The fitting and machining course is designed to create an appreciation of the area of mechanical industry and develop professional skills within the fitting and machining area of mechanical engineering industry. The programme is designed to produce capable and knowledgeable graduates in fitting and machining. The trainees will also acquire knowledge in fillet welding theory and practice in addition to measurement which is critical in fitting and machining.
GENERAL COURSE CONTENT FOR PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA: Fillet welding practice, Fillet welding theory, Measurement, Intro to lathe machine, Communication skills, Technical drawings, Industrial safety, Basic fitting hand tools and Workshop technology theory and practice.
Module B (3 months) courses include: The trainees will be moved to industry for industrial training where hands on practical will be thought extensively.
Employment opportunities: Graduates will be employed as welding practitioners in oil and gas, construction, manufacturing and process industries within and outside Nigeria.
Final Award: At the end of the six (6) months programme, after the trainee must have fulfilled all requirement, the trainee will be awarded: - GIPI Professional Diploma in Fitting & Machining Technology,
Duration: Six (6) Months for Professional Diploma
Entry Requirements: Open to applicants with the following; SSCE, NCE, ND, BSc./HND in Engineering, Sciences, Social Sciences or its equivalent. Applicants must be in good physical condition and also have good eyesight. We recommend that you have your vision tested and corrected, if necessary, before starting welding training.
Nature of Assessment: Welding trainees are assessed by a combination of methods including: - Practical skill examinations - Written test/assignments - Attitude Evaluation
