Some functions of a library department include: • Acquisitions: The department responsible for obtaining materials for the library. • Cataloging: A major part of library functioning that provides access to learning resources for patrons. • Circulation: Involves managing the lending, returning, and tracking of library items. • Developing library policies and procedures: Library managers participate in the strategic planning process to develop policies and procedures. • Conducting collection assessments: The Collection Development department is responsible for ordering books, periodicals, and other materials to develop the library's collections. • Library instruction: An integral part of library services that has been around for over a century. • Library management: Involves controlling and coordinating human and material resources and services. • Redesigning technology: Library technology directorates may focus on building and maintaining systems, or may be large organizations that play a role in other areas.

Presently, the Library department of the Institute is headed by a Librarian; Miss M.O. Towoba.
