The plumbing and pipe fitting course is designed to create an appreciation of the industry and develop professional skills within the plumbing and piping industry. The programme is designed to produce capable and knowledgeable graduates in industrial and domestic water system, waste disposal and irrigation system. Trainees also acquire knowledge in oxy acetylene gas cutting, welding and brazing.

GENERAL COURSE CONTENT FOR PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA: Module A (3 months) courses include: Plumbing Practice, Plumbing Principle, Industrial Safety, Sanitation System, Fillet Welding Technical Drawing, Communication Skills, Workshop Technology and so on.

Module B (3 months) courses include: Pipe fitting Practice, Cold & Hot water system, Enterprenuership, Plumbing Blueprint, Gas Cutting & Welding, Project Costing, Corrosion Control & Coatings, Environmental Awareness etc

Employment opportunities: Employment prospects are very high in the oil & gas, manufacturing, construction, process industries etc in addition to a range of roles in other public sector agencies within and outside Nigeria.

Final Award: At the end of the six (6) months programme, after the trainee must have fulfilled all requirement, the trainee will be awarded: - GIPI Professional Diploma in Plumbing & Pipefitting Technology, - Nigerian Institute of Welding(NIW) Student Membership. - ECDMI student membership

Duration: Six (6) Months for Professional Diploma

Entry Requirements: Open to applicants with the following; SSCE, NCE, ND, BSc./HND in Engineering, Sciences, Social Sciences or its equivalent. Applicants must be in good physical condition and also have good eyesight.

Nature of Assessment: Welding trainees are assessed by a combination of methods including: - Practical skill examinations - Written test/assignments - Attitude Evaluation
