By the law that establishes the Institute, the Rector of the Institute who shall be the Chief Academic and Executive Officer, shall be appointed by the Moderator upon the recommendation of the Governing Council on such terms and conditions as he may think fit. The Rector shall have power to exercise general authority over staff and shall be responsible for the discipline of the Institute.
The Rectory is the administrative and academic hub of an institution, and its functions include: • Planning: The Rectory plans, controls, and coordinates the institution's activities and affairs to achieve its goals and policies. • Supervision: The Rectory supervises the institution's departments, centers, and directorates. • Coordination: The Rectory coordinates the institution's activities and affairs. • Supporting the Rector: The Rectory is made up of the Rector's office and other offices that support the Rector, such as the Deputy Rector's office, Internal Audit, and Public Relations Unit. • Adapting to change: The Rectory adapts to new problems and changing circumstances to maintain continuity and consistency in decisions. • Foreseeing needs: The Rectory foresees needs and problems that may arise from the implementation of decisions and programs.
Presently, the Institute is headed by an Acting Rector; Mr. J.O. Alebiosu.
